Para CMS

About

Para CMS is a PHP based light weight content management system that renders content from plain text files. Para CMS is released under the GPL.

The prefix "para-" has Greek origins, and holds connotations of "side by side". Para CMS is designed to co-exist with human readable content source files in a way that hopefully gives content maintainers the best of both worlds.

The parasaurolophus seen top right can also be found on twolofbees.com.

The current version of Para CMS is 0.2.

Why Use Para CMS?

Para CMS is obviously not for everyone. It doesn't have any fancy admin pages or wizards or kobolds or dragons or any other fantastic thingies. It does have a parasaurolophus as its logo thingy though. Isn't that nice?

  • If you're keen to manage your content from a command line, then Para CMS might be nice for you.
  • If you want to manage your content as plain text with little-to-no markup, then Para CMS can do that.
  • If you have community maintained content and work with version control diffs (via a version control system like github or subversion), then it's probably a bit easier to work with plain text files (there are plans for nice automatic synchronisation scripts), and that's totally what Para CMS is designed to do.
  • If you have PHP, HTML and CSS proficiency and want a simple CMS that you can deploy and customise without overweight templates and mountains of stylesheets to go through, that pretty much describes Para CMS.
